Luca Chiappara
Upright & Electric Bass
Luca Chiappara is a bass player based in Nashville, originally from Italy. Specializing in roots music, Luca has carved out a unique sound that seamlessly blends vintage tones with a fresh, contemporary attitude. Performing over 250 shows a year, he is known for bringing authenticity and innovation to both established genres and new music.
Luca’s musical journey began with the Don Diego Trio, where he developed his distinctive style while touring internationally. This formative experience helped him hone his ability to marry old-school charm with modern energy, earning him performances on some of the world’s most iconic stages, including the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville and Austin City Limits’ Moody Theater. He has also shared the stage with artists like Linda Gail Lewis, Slim Jim Phantom (Stray Cats), JD McPherson, Nicole Atkins, Liam St. John, and C. Thomas Howell among the others.
The Accords
In addition to his performance career, Luca founded The Accords, a traditional jazz sextet where he plays slap upright bass in a 1920s New Orleans style. As the band’s producer and arranger, he brings his vision of classic jazz to life.
These days, Luca can be found playing locally on Lower Broadway in Nashville TN and on tour with Nicole Atkins and Liam St. John.
For his performances, he uses Fishman Full Circle and Pro Platinum EQ.
